WHO WE ARE

In the late 60’s & early 70’s, an eclectic group of people came together, drawn by a desire to create a safe space in which to explore issues of communication and spirituality–a zone where ideas could be considered and kicked around. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, that group eventually became known, simply, as East Bay.

Between that beginning and now, the world has become increasingly polarized. People of the same country, the same community, the same family often talk at each other and not with each other. They often cannot see that their differing points of view are their greatest asset. In acting like combatants, they fail to achieve what they want most: connection and understanding.

During that time, East Bay has grown and maintained a community of friends who actively respect, help and support one another. Though we’ve all changed and grown, we’ve always been there for each other through life’s ups and downs. We encourage one another to use the knowledge we’ve gained and the tools we’ve refined to practice greater awareness, effective communication and more powerful self-determination. This allows us to have a positive impact on the people and the world around us. As a result, we’ve come to represent enduring friendship — stability, continuity and support for each other and those close to us.
